Colonial Baptist Church EST. 1989

Our church was first started on May 7, 1989.   A group of believers, under the leadership of Rev. Woodrow Robbins began meeting in a temporary facility to seek God’s will, concerning the formation of a new church. On Sept. 10, 1989, Colonial Baptist Church was constituted. The church was and still is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, the NC Baptist State Convention and the Liberty Baptist Association. Land was then purchased and a sanctuary was built on this existing property. Rev. Robbins served as pastor until his death in 1991.   At that time Rev. Kenneth Miller was called as interim pastor until June of 1998. Then Rev. Steve Jarvis was called to be the church’s first full time pastor. Under Rev. Jarvis’s leadership, God allowed the church to have a note burning for the first sanctuary, added a fellowship hall, new classrooms and the existing sanctuary built and paid for. Colonial Childcare Center and preschool was also established. Rev. Jarvis served until his retirement in June 2019. On March 22, 2020, Dr. Clint Scott became the full-time pastor of Colonial Church. His first message, as pastor, was on March 25th. Due to the Corona virus, this has been an unusual year for our church. We have had drive-in services and social distancing services. Precautions and safety measures have been placed for us when we do have full services or gatherings. The pandemic has allowed us to reach in ways our church has never done before.  Facebook, YouTube and a web page have been installed. We have been giving, each week, food boxes to help people in our community. Chicken pies have been distributed to Archdale and Thomasville police departments to show our thanks and gratitude to law enforcement. We are looking forward, as the pandemic diminishes, for new opportunities to reach out to the community and show God’s love. Love God, Love People, Reach the World. Pastor Mark Hollar became our intern Pastor on September 12, 2021 to lead our church until we could find a full time Pastor. Mark Hollar was called by Colonial Baptist on June 19 2022 to serve as Senior Pastor. Vote was 100 % of the congregation on that Sunday. We have grown the membership under his leadership over the year. God has really blessed our church during 2023 with new members and we have put flip flops and clothes in boxes for the Philippians supporting others in Jesus name. We have put together bags of different items for the homeless in our community and our members taking the bags and giving them out as they ride around Thomasville and surrounding areas. Our Children and Student Ministries have grown in 2024 with several young folks giving their lives to the LORD. Our leaders Dwight and Christine  have supported them on Wednesday and Sunday services. We thank GOD for bringing them to us.
